Metropolis has around 373 apartments and was completed around 1999. It was built by local developer Andrew Krukzeiner. Apart from its excellent location with access to The Chancery and High Street it has the magnificent Courthouse as it's main entrance. The Penthouse apartments on level 31 to 36 apart from being magnificent have significant interior variations and this reflects in a wider range of $ per square metre than say the apartments on level 9 to 30 where a lot of uniformity exists. Floors 9 to 30 have the same floor plate and on each floor there are 15 types all identifiable by the apartment number e.g. 901, 1001, 1101 and so on. The 03 are the largest and then the 08 apartments on levels 9 to 30. The sizes exclude any decks so you need to consider this when using the data. On levels 9 to 30 the apartments with decks have the following suffix 03, 04, 06 ,07, 09, 11, 12 and 13. We recommend www.highprofiles.co.nz for more details on Metropolis floor plates. Some more on the history of Metropolis; The Magistrates Court at 1 Courthouse Lane is a good example of Edwardian Baroque architecture, the facade is Oamuru stone. It was built around 1912. Metropolis opened in 1999 and was managed by Ascott International Management until May 2008, CDL a publicly traded company, managed the building and hotel for a brief period following the departure of Ascott but were unable to agree suitable terms for a longer term and left after 3 months. Dave and Cheryl Burgess currently manage the building. Crockers Property Services are the Body Corporate secretary. |
